The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools. Norcross High School is the only IB school in GCPS and offers two programmes for students aged 14 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are more than 806,000 IB students at 2,920 schools in 138 countries world-wide.

International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)

The IB Diploma Programme has been implemented at Norcross High School for since 1995. It provides Norcross students with the opportunity to participate in the rigorous courses and unique learning experiences provided by the IBO.

Full Diploma Participation - Full diploma students engage in all six IB courses all four years. Also, diploma students take the two semester Theory of Knowledge course. the Extended Essay, and the 150 CAS hour requirement (this consists of creativity, action, and service). At the end of the program, students will sit for all exams in the six subjects and will complete internal assessments as well.

For students who choose not to earn the IB Diploma, it is possible to complete IB courses in areas of their greatest interests and ability.   In order to earn credit at most colleges Course Candidates only take courses at the Higher Level.

The IB Middle Years Programme is offered in conjunction with Summerour Middle School and Pickneyville Middle School.  All ninth and tenth grade students who are enrolled in our school are part of the IB MYP.  Students in the tenth grade can earn a certificate of distinction by successfully showing mastery of the IB MYP criteria in conjunction with completion of the MYP Personal Project and community service.  Additional information regarding the IB MYP program can be found on the IB Middle Years Programme page.
