The State of Georgia recently passed House Bill 1190. This bill states that any student who acculumates five unexcused absences from school will be subject to disciplinary action. After the fifth unexcused absence, parents will be notified by letter and phone call to schedule a conference regarding their student's absences. Additionally, parents and students should be aware that the passage of House Bill 1190 places specific restrictions and requirements on individuals under the age of 18 who apply for an instructional permit or driver's license. Cell phones and/or pagers that are visible and/or turned on and/or ring during the school day between 7:00 am - 2:10 pm are in violation of the school system Rule 11L. The consequences for cell phone and pager violations will be that the phone or pager will be confiscated and released to the parent on the Friday of the week that the item was confiscated from 7:00 - 7:30 am or from 2:30 - 3:30 pm.
Students checking into school from either a doctor or dentist appointment must present a doctor or dentist note in order to receive an excused check in. Parents/Guardians wishing to check their child out of school must do so before 1:40 PM.
