Classes

Welcome to Mrs. Brackman's Website!

This year, I am the full-time Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator.  I teach Work Based Learning and Business Procedures.  I am also an advisor for DECA.

I am currently accepting applications for next year's WBL program.

The Work Based Learning (WBL) program is a work experience program which is open to juniors and seniors.  The students that enter into WBL are career focused and goal oriented. WBL students will learn the skills needed to be successful in today‚Äôs workplace.  They will gain valuable work experience to jumpstart their career and establish connections to the local business community.

As the WBL coordinator, I will try to help your child locate and obtain approved employment for their work experience.  I will visit the workplace periodically to monitor progress, speak to supervisors, and work with the worksite mentor to ensure a quality learning experience.  The students are also responsible for monthly assignments that build their career portfolio.

As a WBL student, your son or daughter will take classes during the morning periods.  Then, during 5th and/or 6th and/or 7th period, your son or daughter will be released from school to report to work.

If your child is scheduled to be released for two work periods, he or she will leave school after 5th period.  Students with two work release periods are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.

If your child is scheduled to be released for one work period, he or she will leave school after 6th period.  Students with one work release period are required to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

The WBL requirements are as follows:

  • You must be a junior or senior
  • You must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • You must be 16 years of age or older

WBL enables the student to EARN MONEY, RECEIVE SCHOOL CREDIT, and HAVE A GREAT JOB at the same time!  Do not pass up this excellent opportunity for your child to become a part of the Norcross High School WBL program!  WBL can truly be their ticket to a successful future!

I am located in BT-113. There are applications outside my door.  My phone number is 770.447.2654.  You can email me at Diane_Brackman@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.

I am available before or after school by appointment.  I am sometimes out of the office visiting employers but I am here to help my students be successful.
